Hi! My name is Greg Wertherall, and I have been an arts and culture journalist across print and online media since 2012.
My work has been published in Dazed, The Guardian, FT, The Times, The Telegraph, NME, Variety, BFI, Little White Lies, CLASH, and many more besides. I have also frequently worked in print at The Sun on Sunday as their regular Caught Live music reviewer.
I have met and profiled legends from the world of music and film throughout my career. These have included The Doors, Debbie Harry, Liam Gallagher, Stevie Nicks, Nick Cave, Art Garfunkel, Pixies, Kings of Leon, The Sex Pistols, Shakira, The Who's Pete Townshend, Joan Jett, Cate Blanchett, Werner Herzog, The Stone Roses' John Squire, Mike Leigh, AURORA, famous rock photographer Henry Diltz, Bela Tarr, and Liv Ullmann, to name just a few.
In addition, I work in-house for prestigious music PR company Outside Org (2022-present) for the annual All Points East festival in Victoria Park, east London on backstage interviews and press releases.
My general journalism experience also charts online news shifts, red carpet interviews, editing/sub-editing, writing op-eds, and artist bios (I have written bios for a wide-range of artists; both high-profile and up and coming). I have also compered the Pilton Palais film tent at Glastonbury festival with Tilda Swinton in 2017, conducted webinars at Pearson College, and interviewed/compered onstage at the VFX Festival in London.
In 2022, I worked in-house for Netflix on cast, crew and fan interviews at the red carpet Season Two premiere of the hit show, Bridgerton. I worked with Netflix again for Alejandro G. Inarritu's Bardo at the London Film Festival, interviewing both the director and the cast. I have also conducted on-set in-house interviews for Dreamworks Animation Studios and their film, The Wild Robot, interviewing Bill Nighy and Kit Connor about their voice roles.
In terms of film and music festivals across Europe, I have been commissioned to represent publications at Cannes, Barcelona's Primavera Sound, Glastonbury, Berlinale, Venice Film Festival, Latitude, BST Hyde Park, iTunes Festival, and more.
In the '10s, I was the film correspondent on the former internet radio station, Talk2Me Radio, and hosted my own podcast too.
Finally, for almost ten years, I was one of the key regular theatre reviewers in print and online for the traditional London newspapers, Hackney Gazette, Ham & High and Islington Gazette.
If you made it this far, thank you. Writing a bio about myself feels like a very self-indulgent activity, so I too am pleased to have reached the end of this piece! I wish you well!
